Dance Schedule for November 2011

Dances start promptly at 8:30 pm and end at 11:30 pm. Admission is $9. A contra dance lesson for beginners is given every Friday starting at 7:30 pm and is included in the price of admission.

November 4 -- Anna Rain calls to Goldcrest: Daron Douglas from New Orleans on fiddle; Paul Oorts from Silver Spring on mandolin, musette accordion, cittern and banjo; Dave Weisler from Newark, Del., on piano and guitar.

November 11 -- Shawn Brenneman with the fabulous Glen Echo Open Band. Free admission for ages 17 and under.

November 18 -- David Giusti calls to Evil Twins: David Knight from Washington on fiddle; Laurie Fisher from Black Mountain, NC., on piano, drums and the occasional fiddle.

November 25 -- Afternoon: Kathy Anderson calls to Government Contra Act: Andrew Marcus on accordion and doumbek; Kendall Rogers on keyboards, bodhran and whistle; Michael Ferguson on hammered dulcimer, digeridoo, trombone and electronic drum kit; with guest Brad Battey on fiddle.

Evening Ron Buchanan calls to Capital Quicksteps Quadrille Orchestra: Steve Hickman, Julia Borland, Alexander Mitchell, fiddles; Susan Brandt, flute; Jonah Blaustein, clarinet; Dave Crandall, sax; Matt Irwin, trumpet; John O’Loughlin, trombone; Ralph Gordon, bass; Larry Robinson, banjo and mandolin; Marc Glickman, piano; Will Morrison, percussion.

Admission to the 3:00 pm and the 8:30 pm dances is $10.00 each or $18.00 for both.

Late Evening: Techno Contra. Brian Hamshar calls to CDs spun by DJ Improper. Admission is $5.00.
