Dance Schedule for December 2006

Dances start promptly at 8:30 pm and end at 11:30 pm. Admission is $8. A contra dance lesson for beginners is given every Friday starting at 7:30 pm and is included in the price of admission.

December 1 -- Beverly Smith calls to Raise the Roof . The band includes Mathew Clarke, Pete Soloway, Judi Stellar and Kathy Talvitie, who have been playing together for contra dances for over a decade. Their lively and energetic string band sound draws on New England, Southern and French Canadian musical traditions.
December 8 -- Denise Lair calls to the fabulous Glen Echo Open Band.

December 15 -- Susan Taylor and Janine Smith calls to Avant Gardeners . The band includes Laura Light (fiddle and vocals); George Paul (piano and accordion); Dan Sebring (fiddle, mando and guitar); and Jimmy Gagnon (percussion). Avant Gardener's mixture of traditional and composed tunes have contributed to the delirium of dancers at countless dances and concerts from coast to coast. Their performing styles range from traditional, swing, Celtic and old time.

December 22 -- Greg Frock calls to Rambling House. Band members are: Tina Eck (flute), Matt Shortridge (fiddle), Pat Cavanagh (banjo, mandolin), and Marc Glickman (piano, bodhran).

December 29 -- Bob Hofkin calls to the June Apple Band. June Apple includes Alice Markham (keyboard), Jeff Steinberg (fiddle), Mike McGeary (guidar, mandolin & banjo) and Bob Garber (clarinet).
