Dance Schedule for March 2006

Dances start promptly at 8:30 pm and end at 11:30 pm. Admission is $8. A contra dance lesson for beginners is given every Friday starting at 7:30 pm and is included in the price of admission.

March 3 -- Tori Barone calls to Gigmeisterssome of the most popular musicians at the Spanish Ballroom! Alexander Mitchell (fiddle and mandolin), Paul Oorts (musette accordion, strings), Ralph Gordon (bass) and Dave Wiesler (piano and guitar); azaleacityrecordings.com/davewiesler/bands.htm.

March 10 -- DeLaura Padovan calls to the fabulous Glen Echo Open Band.

March 17 -- Nightingale returns! George Marshall (from Wild Asparagus and Swallowtail!) calls to the top New England band Nightingale (Becky Tracy (fiddle), Keith Murphy (voice, guitar, mandolin, piano, foot percussion), and Jeremiah McLane (accordion, piano); nightingalevt.org) making a rare visit to Glen Echo. "Impeccable playing...danceable and exciting" Sing Out! Magazine. .

March 24 -- Nils Fredland calls to Elixir, with Anna Patton (clarinet), Ethan Hazzard-Watkins (fiddle), Jesse Hazard-Watkins (trombone), Marko Packard (flute, sax, guitar, whistle); ethanhw.com/bands.html, another great New England band. Contradance music with horns!

March 31 -- Mark Sherman calls to Atlantic Crossing, featuring Brian Perkins (strings), Peter MacFarlane (fiddle), Rick Klein (guitar), and Viveka Fox (fiddle, bodhran)); atlantic.bigheavyworld.com). Another top Vermont band that plays a variety of instruments (including bouzouki!), bringing traditional New England and Maritime tunes to life with creativity, emotion, and lots of plain fun.
