Dance Schedule for July 2005

Dances start promptly at 8:30pm and end at 11:30pm. Admission is $8. A contra dance lesson for beginners is given every Friday starting at 7:30pm and is included in the price of admission.

July 1 - DeLaura Padovan calls to Hickman, Glickman, and Devine – (Steve Hickman (fiddle), Marc Glickman (piano), John Devine (guitar)) a local band with a long history at Glen Echo, featuring nationally prominent musicians. A band that helped build mid-Atlantic contra dancing into what it is now. LATE NEWS FLASH: For an even bigger sound, they will be playing with David Crandall on saxophone and flute, and Jim Bienemann on string bass.

July 8 - Tori Barone calling with the fabulous Glen Echo Open Band


July 15 - Tom Hinds calls to Red Mountain White Trash – (Jim Cauthen, Joyce Cauthen, Phil Foster, Jamie Finley, Bill Martin, Nancy Jackson; www.bamalong.com/red.htm.), a long time favorite contra band, play lively old-time mountain string band music from the heart of Alabama, with powerful medleys and driving dance tunes.


July 22 - Nils Fredland calls to House Red – (Jonathan Thielen, Owen Morrison, Shawn Brenneman) , an exciting band from down the Valley, play energetic, driving dance music to make you wanna move!


July 29 - (In the Bumper Car Pavillion.) Ann Fallon calls to Waverley Station – (Liz Donaldson, David Knight, Ralph Gordon) local musicians who’ve found the right combination to make a high energy band.
